Wood Painted Anniversary Sign

sign1
My anniversary gift to my husband this December was this very large wooden sign I made for our bedroom (2’x4′), it seems like we always buy meaningless stuff and I wanted to do something that we could have forever to look back on when times are tough.

Since we have a rustic bedroom set I wanted to keep it very simple. I purchased this piece of wood at Home Depot in a 2’x4′ size, stained it with just watered down burnt umber acrylic paint, then painted on the letters also with acrylic. While the paint was drying I tied the top with a piece of raffia, then hot glued it down along with a few flowers from the craft store, also doing the bottom corner the same way, when completely dry added a spray fixative. Very simple but meaningful.
