Mickey Mouse Shaped “Sally” Rice Krispie Treats

Rice Krispies Treat Ingredients:

3 TBSP unsalted butter
1 package marshmallows (fresh)
(Or 4 cups miniature marshmallows)
6 C RIce Krispies cereal
Large saucepan
Wax paper
13 x 9 in pan
Baking spray
Mickey Mouse Head cookie cutter

Directions:*

Prep pan with cooking spray.

Melt butter in a large saucepan on low heat. Slowly add the marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows until completely melted. Set aside.

Add rice krispies cereal. Stir until all of the cereal is coated.

Using wax paper press the mixture into the pan. Cool.

Carefully remove the rice krispies sheet from the pan.

Use the cookie cutter to cut out Mickey’s head. Set aside.

Royal Icing Ingredients:

3 large egg whites

1 tsp cream of tarter

3 C powder sugar

1 tsp pure almond extract

2 disposable piping bags with number 2 tip

1 squeeze bottle

teal and black gel food coloring

Royal Icing Directions:

Using a standing mixer, beat the egg whites, cream of tarter, powder sugar, and almond extract until combined, smooth and stiff with peaks, about 7 minutes

Scoop 1/2 C of the icing into a bowl and mix in a few drops of the black gel food coloring

Using the remaining icing, mix in a few drops of the teal food coloring until combined

Scoop the black icing into 1 piping bag

Scoop some teal icing into the second piping bag

Mix in 2 tbsp of water into the remaining teal icing and pour into the squeeze bottle

Decorating Directions :

Line up the rice krispie mickey heads on a waxed paper lined counter.

Outline the mickey head with the teal icing.Set aside for a few minutes to allow to dry.

Once the outline has dried.

Squeeze some of the icing on the center of the mickey

head. Use a butter knife to spread the icing on the mickey head. Set aside for the icing to firm up.

Using the black icing make the black lines. Allow to slightly dry.

Working on one line (stitch line at a time) begin to make the stitches. Criss-cross some or/and make small lines.

Repeat until all of the stitches have been completed. Set aside to dry.
